GTX Hanex Plastic attends the 14th SPE European Thermoforming Conference in Strasbourg

On 3–5 March 2026, GTX Hanex Plastic took part in the 14th SPE European Thermoforming Conference, one of the most important industry events for thermoforming technology in Europe. The Conference was held in Strasbourg and brought together experts from across the plastics processing sector.

The event, organized by the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), is a key platform for material producers, technology suppliers, machine manufacturers and thermoforming companies to share and transfer knowledge and expertise.

European Thermoforming Conference – key highlights in the plastics industry

The focus of this year’s edition programme was on the most important trends in thermoforming technology and in the plastics processing sector as a whole.

Key interest areas covered:

  • developing sustainable materials and using recycled plastics, including rPET,
  • increasing energy efficiency of thermoforming processes,
  • optimizing production operations and reducing process waste,
  • going digital in production and using advanced analytics,
  • European regulatory frameworks impacting the packaging and plastics industry.

Industry experts presented case studies of project deployments and technology solutions that help companies increase production efficiency whilst timely responding to the growing requirements of sustainable development.

GTX Hanex Plastic’s own presentation at the Conference

The Conference’s programme featured GTX Hanex Plastic own presentation, dedicated to the future of PET and PP materials in the context of the latest European Union legislation.

The presentation gave the manufacturer’s perspective and discussed the challenges and opportunities related to new regulations on packaging, recycling and the circular economy. The presentation was met with great interest and triggered interesting discussions on the outlook for the industry.

Thermoforming in practice – workshops and technical sessions

Technical workshops were an important part in the overall structure of the Conference, offering a range of learning opportunities:

  • thin-gauge and thick-gauge forming processes,
  • process parameters that impact production quality,
  • new materials in thermoforming,
  • optimization of production processes.

Presentations delivered by sectoral experts provided practical knowledge and inspiration for further technology development in the plastics industry.

Sharing expertise and industry networking

The European Thermoforming Conference is also an excellent opportunity for networking, building contacts within the industry and talk with business partners from all over Europe.

During the event, participants met representatives of technology companies, material producers and experts involved in the development of advanced solutions for the plastics industry.
