  • lower recycling efficiency – glass recycling is more complicated compared to PET.
  • risk of cuts from broken glass – the fragility of glass is associated with the risk of breakage and cuts from sharp pieces. Therefore, from a consumer perspective, glass bottles are not suitable for travelling and for carrying in a bag or backpack.

PET bottles – a modern, environmentally friendly solution

The future of the packaging industry is with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles. They are increasingly chosen by manufacturers due to their numerous advantages.   • lower production temperature – PET processing requires a temperature of only around 280 degrees Celsius, which significantly reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
  • light weight and durability – the bottles are light and resistant to mechanical damage.
  • effectiveness and legal regulation of recycling processes – PET recycling was the first plastic processing process to be regulated by the European Union, which is why it is very well developed and safe.
  • flexibility in design – PET allows the creation of bottles in various shapes and colours, which is beneficial from a marketing and branding point of view.

PET bottles vs. glass bottles

PET bottles are slowly replacing glass bottles in many industries as the packaging industry continues to evolve and manufacturers become more aware of market needs and expectations. Manufacturers are also recognizing the importance of sustainability and green practices, as well as the circular economy, making PET, which is easier to recycle, an attractive option. Additionally, technological innovations in the production of PET bottles allow the design of attractively looking packaging that catches the eye of consumers.
